This cover, and others like it I find annoying, and somewhat disappointing.
Pleased? Whatever these women do, however they look, these vile magazines will pick on them. I can't recall any of the women on the cover actually saying publicly they 'refuse' to diet, and dislike the implied two-fingered salute to their fans the magazine attributes to them.
This cover makes me feel slightly disappointed in anyone who buys this rubbish. I can easily see how some women would be influenced by it however.
Makes me feel normal and that even the most popular celebs have the same body issues as 'normal people'
These celebs probably didnt know the pictures were being taken, they know the will be pulled to pieces by the media so the easiest way is for them to say they are totally happy with there bodies and do not feel the need to diet, whether that is truely how they feel we will never know
It makes me despair that magazines such as this one portray 'dieting' (which is just as much a manifestation of an unhealthy relationship with food as overeating is) as being somehow desirable and/or normal by depicting some people's 'refusal' to participate in it as being in some way weird or rebellious. Magazine covers like this are simply another aspect of the media's ongoing campaign to make normal women feel abnormal if they don't obsess over their bodies
A little bit uncomfortable, I dislike the way they say "refuse" rather than they are comfortable in their skin
ReplyDeleteYes, they are standing up for being comfortable in their own skin and refusing to be a stereo typically beautiful
In a way, yes because the media want us to believe that dieting is a positive... When really, it's not.

No, you can be larger and happy with yourself
